Laser hair removal is a non-surgical procedure which can reduce unwanted hair on the face and body. The procedure is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, underarms, back, bikini line and legs. Treatment involves a low-energy laser and typically requires multiple sessions. Procedures take place at our clinic in Rye Brook, Westchester.
Dr. Andrew Kleinman is a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in laser hair removal. To help best meet your needs, he will work closely with you to develop an individualized treatment plan. Anyone looking to reduce unwanted hair on the face and/or body may be a candidate for laser hair removal, though patients should be aware that treatment may not be as effective on blonde, white and gray hairs or on patients with darker pigmentation.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL PROCEDURES
Your laser hair removal procedure will take place in the office setting, lasting anywhere from several minutes to several hours depending on the size and number of treatment areas. Anesthesia is not required as there is minimal discomfort, with the laser producing a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. During treatment, the laser is passed over the area, allowing the laser energy to pass through the skin and be absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. Once absorbed, a percentage of the hairs are instantly and permanently disabled.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL RECOVERY
Recovery after laser hair removal is generally mild. Some minor redness or swelling may occur. Nevertheless, most laser hair removal patients are back at work and their usual routine immediately after treatment. While the procedure will permanently reduce unwanted hair, it may take several session to target all hairs in a given area.
